Join The Team
Without the help and support of volunteers, Bourne Free would not be possible. Every year a great team of volunteers give up their time to put on Bournemouth Pride weekend, but we are always on the lookout for new recruits. From helping with setting up & clearing down the event to marshalling the parade and first aid volunteering there is something for everyone. If you are unable to commit to Pride weekend we also have a number of other events during the year, prior to or post pride including a Dog Show, Adult Panto and many other events throughout the year.
New to Volunteering?
Don’t worry, you will not be left on your own.
All our new volunteers are signed up to our ‘Buddy’ scheme, where you will work with a volunteer that has helped at Bourne Free previously. So you will always have someone nearby that can help out if you need it.
We offer full training to all our volunteers. Everyone’s safety is paramount and our volunteers are pinnacle in the smooth running of our event; so every year we run a mandatory Health & Safety & Emergency Evacuation meeting prior to our event.
If you have any questions, or want to talk to someone before you come along to a signup meeting, please get in touch.

Then why not join our Trustee Support Committee team. From Our Message & Diversity group to Organising the Parade to Fundraising and Events we have lots of support groups lead by our trustees to help our outreach LGBTQ+ community Projects. If this sounds like you please get in touch below, and pick Committee from the drop-down.
Volunteer / Committee Meetings
Each year we hold multiple meetings to recruit volunteers and committee members. The first will be held at The Hampton By Hilton, Upper Terrace Road, Bournemouth, BH2 5NW on the 28th March 2018, from 6 pm. It is a great way for us all to get to know each other, if you can’t make this meeting then just apply to volunteer using the link below and one of our Volunteer Coordinators will be in touch to discuss future meetings.
Various local and national businesses have been supporting their employees to volunteer for Bourne Free for many years. For example, Barclays Bank incentivised over 20 employees to volunteer during normal working hours in the following years: 2015, 2016 & 2017. Without their and other businesses support people can’t always find the time to volunteer for the times we require. If your workplace would be interested in providing you with a similar incentive please contact us to discover the reciprocal benefits by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
